Hot Buttered Rum

Hot Buttered Rum

This is a great drink to warm up and relax with on a cold winter night. 


1 stick
butter
2 cups
brown sugar
1 tsp
ground cinnamon
tsp
grated nutmeg

good rum

very hot water

whipped cream


Melt the butter in a small pot and add the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  If you can get whole nutmeg, grate it with a microplane, it makes a big difference.  Stir everything together and spoon the mixture into a resealable bowl and refrigerate. 

To make the hot buttered rum, spoon 2 tablespoons of the butter/sugar mixture into a large mug, add two ounces of good rum (I like dark rum best).  Add enough very hot (nearly boiling) water to almost fill the mug.  Stir until the sugar has dissolved, top with whipped cream, serve.
