Hot Chocolate

Spiced Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon Whipped Cream

This is a great drink to warm up and relax with on a cold winter night and even better if you add some Kahlua to it.
 
Cinnamon Whipped Cream

1 cup
heavy whipping cream
3 tbl
sugar
tsp
ground cinnamon
tsp
good vanilla extract


Spiced Hot Chocolate

1 cup
chocolate Ovaltine
tsp
ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp
ground ginger
1/8 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
ground allspice
cup
water
1 qt
half & half
1 tsp
good vanilla extract


For the Cinnamon Whipped Cream: Chill the whipping bowl and beaters in the freezer for 20 minutes. Add the whipping cream, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla and beat with a mixer until it's thick. Cover and keep cold in your fridge until ready to use.

For the Hot Chocolate: In a medium saucepan add the Ovaltine, spices, salt and water. Bring to a boil, stirring well to dissolve the sugar. Remove from heat and stir in the half & half and vanilla. Return the pan to your stove and heat to 150 over medium heat while stirring. DO NOT re-boil. Once hot, pour into mugs and serve topped with the cinnamon whipped cream dusted with ground cinnamon. To make this even better, add a shot of Kahlua to each mug before you pour in the hot chocolate.
