Lemonade
Lemonade

Homemade lemonade is so good and lemonade made from Meyer lemons is the best.  There really isn't anything that is better on a hot summer afternoon.  We are lucky enough to live in an area where Meyer lemons grow and we have two Meyer lemon trees so we have come up with our own recipe for lemonade.  Use store bought lemons if you can't find Meyers but don't use bottled lemon juice.  It isn't worth the trouble.  Additionally, this recipe uses simple syrup because it is so much easier than all the stirring needed to dissolve regular sugar.

Simple Syrup
2 cups
sugar
2 cups
water

Everything Else
1 cup
lemon juice

4 cups

water

Make the simple syrup by adding the water and sugar to a small non reactive pot.  If you make extra simple syrup remember that the sugar will dissolve long before the pot comes to a boil but the syrup will store longer in the fridge if you bring it to a boil.  Once you make the syrup, slice the lemons in half and juice them.  Pour the juice through a strainer to remove the seeds and most of the pulp.  Pour the lemon juice, simple syrup, and water into a a half gallon container, stir well, chill, and serve over ice.
