Spiced Pear Sorbet

Sorbets are so good on a hot summer night and this is a good one. 

1 cup

water

3 15 oz cans

pears in heavy syrup

¾ cup

sugar

allspice berries

whole cloves
2
cinnamon sticks

Put the water, pears along with their syrup, sugar and spices in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Lower the heat to a simmer and cover.  Simmer this for 20 minutes.  Fish the allspice, cloves, and cinnamon out and discard them.  Use a blender, immersion blender, or food processor to blend everything as smooth as possible.  Put 5½ cups of the blended mixture into the ice cream maker and let the machine do its work.
