Szechuan Pork and Green beans

Szechuan Green Beans and Pork

This is an easy, quick dinner that tastes great.

1 recipe rice
1 lb fresh green beans
1 tbl + 1 tsp canola oil
1 lb ground pork
¼ tsp white pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup hoisin sauce
3 tbl soy sauce
1 tbl brown sugar
½ tsp crushed red pepper

Cook the rice.  Sit back and relax for the first 30 to 40 minutes while it cooks.

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Snap the ends off the green beans and cut them in half. Add the beans to the water and cook them for 4 minutes.  Drain immediately.

While the beans are cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large, deep-sided skillet over medium heat. Add the pork and the white pepper. Break up the pork while cooking and cook until browned’.  Drain off any grease.

Add a teaspoon of canola oil to the pan and keeping the heat at medium, and add the pork back to it, then add the garlic.  Stir for 30 seconds, then add the cooked green beans.  Add the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar and crushed red pepper, and stir to until everything is well coated. Cook over medium, just enough to warm everything up.
