Spiced Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon Whipped
Cream
This is a
great drink to warm up and relax with on a cold winter night and
even better if you add some Kahlua to it.
Cinnamon
Whipped Cream

Spiced Hot
Chocolate
1 cup |
chocolate Ovaltine
|
½ cup |
sugar |
½ tsp |
ground
cinnamon |
⅛ tsp |
ground
ginger |
⅛ tsp |
salt |
⅛ tsp |
ground
allspice |
½ cup |
water |
1 qt |
half
& half |
1 tsp |
good
vanilla extract |
For the
Cinnamon Whipped Cream: Chill the whipping bowl and beaters
in the freezer for 20 minutes. Add the whipping cream, sugar,
cinnamon and vanilla and beat with a mixer until it's thick. Cover
and keep cold in your fridge until ready to use.
For the Hot Chocolate: In a medium saucepan add
the Ovaltine, spices, salt and water. Bring to a boil, stirring
well to dissolve the sugar. Remove from heat and stir in the half
& half and vanilla. Return the pan to your stove and heat to
150° over medium heat while stirring. DO NOT re-boil. Once hot,
pour into mugs and serve topped with the cinnamon whipped cream
dusted with ground cinnamon. To make this even better, add a shot
of Kahlua to each mug before you pour in the hot chocolate.
